Cube were engaged by the Local Authority and building owner to restore the redundant Grade II Windmill. The mill is a unique example of a 17th Century windmill and can be seen for miles over the Lancashire countryside. The building is in a critical condition with many original industrial features being lost and is recorded on the national ‘Building At Risk’ register. Cube were commissioned to historically appraise the key features of the building and provide a report on the condition of the structure. We also provided specifications and details of urgent repairs to protect the building from further weather damage. As part of the development appraisal, we considered a number of alternative uses to convert the building and surroundings to a new use.
