Cube were appointed to design and manage the fit-out of a new flagship Sports Direct store at Westfield Stratford City, London. Maximising brand appeal was a pre-requisite and needed to be evident as the store would showcase leading brands to their full potential. This centre is in close proximity to the Olympic Village and expected footfall during 2012, the model store needed to encapsulate the spirit of the Olympics.
Cube’s Approach:
The project needed to be delivered within a restrictive time schedule with no option to extend the opening date which was to coincide with the ceremonial opening of the Westfield Stratford Centre. Cube worked closely with the Westfield Retail Delivery and Shell Construction teams to provide a balanced approach and manage both client expectations and landlord requirements. A major challenge was the logistical constraints that were presented, mainly the limited procurement timescales. A total of 250 retailers and associated shop fitting companies were working on site concurrently with only limited delivery points and a security team that had to be particularly vigilant due to the sensitivity of the development.
