Cube provided Project Management and CDM-C services in connection with the new build of affordable homes and conversion of the Grade II* listed mill to 28 apartments.
The 9 affordable homes were constructed on a vacant brown field site adjacent to the river. The 3 storey timber frame was built to a controlled specification by Local Authority and ECOhomes accreditation. The timber frame was constructed with ‘robust’ detailing to ensure air and sound quality as required by current building regulation standards and requirements of Zurich.
The Grade II* mill is the last serving industrial building within Porthmadog, which links the woollen trade and docks at the nearby port. The mill was sensitively converted into 28 luxury apartments. The works involved close liaison with CADW and archaeological unit during the strip out works and demolition so that the industrial archaeology can be recorded. The building features are preserved and developed into the scheme of the 28 apartments.
Project Value: £2.9m
