Part of the Blackburn College’s Master Plan is to remodel and upgrade the property assets. The College commissioned Cube to inspect and prepare a detailed condition survey of the entire estate (over 500,000 sqft). The survey covered the internal and external fabric of the buildings with specific reference to the status of repair, budget costs, legislation requirements, M&E assessments and suggested remedial action. This information was collected on a database and used by the college to update the Asset Management Plan to determine a strategy for remodelling, refurbishment and redevelopment proposals.
The typical estate properties included 6th Form block, Creative Arts building, 1960’s – 7 storey concrete frame building, Grade II Arts and craft building, Vehicle workshops, Leisure, Theatre and general administration space.
